Marshall Health Network – Cabell Huntington Hospital (CHH) welcomes patients to the Robert and Lena Shell Outpatient Medical Pavilion following a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday, April 8. The five-story, 80,000-square-foot facility is designed to enhance patient care and access.

“The opening of the Robert and Lena Shell Medical Outpatient Pavilion affirms Marshall Health Network’s dedication to delivering access, excellence and compassionate care,” said Tim Martin, Chief Operating Officer of CHH. “This facility’s design was centered around patient care, with each piece of equipment and space selected and considered to offer advanced diagnostic capabilities, enabling physicians to provide innovative care.”

The pavilion is a one-stop shop for outpatient services, with registration available at the department for added convenience. The new pavilion services include:

  •         CHH Breast Health Center (ground floor)
  •          CHH Neurophysiology Lab (third floor)
  •          EKG/ECHO (third floor)
  •         Endoscopy (first floor)
  •          Imaging Services (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray – ground floor)
  •        Laboratory services (ground floor)
  •        Marshall Gastroenterology and Hepatology (second floor)
  •         Marshall Neurology (fourth floor)
  •         Physical Therapy (third floor)

Located adjacent to the hospital’s parking garage, the facility offers a convenient, covered area for patient drop-off and pick-up. A covered walkway provides easy access to the second floor from the parking garage.

The pavilion is named for Mr. Robert “Bob” Shell and his wife, Lena. The Shell family have been recipients of the dedicated care of Cabell Huntington Hospital and Marshall Health Network physicians.

“We had a vision more than six years ago, and Bob Shell shared that vision,” Martin said. “Thanks to the partnership with the Shell family and the dedicated physicians who guided this process, we have seen the vision to offer convenient, innovative care under one roof come to fruition.”

The $55 million project, led by MIRC Construction Services, LLC, commenced in August 2021 and was substantially completed in fall 2024, with all services moved in early 2025.

Following the ribbon cutting, the pavilion was opened for tours, showcasing its advanced design and the improved services it offers patients.
