Marshall Health Network now offers pediatric cardiology services at Rivers Health, bringing advanced heart care closer to home for children in the Mid-Ohio Valley. Services at Rivers Health include onsite state-of-the-art diagnostic testing, personalized treatment plans and ongoing care management.
Pediatric cardiology services at Rivers Health will be led by Jeffrey K. Harris, M.D., a board-certified pediatric cardiologist at Marshall Health. Harris specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of heart conditions in children, including congenital heart defects, arrhythmias, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and other cardiovascular concerns. Harris has a specialized interest in sports cardiology.
Harris, a Mason County, West Virginia native, earned his medical degree from Marshall University. He completed his pediatrics residency at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston before returning home to West Virginia. Harris, an associate professor of pediatrics, joined the faculty of the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in 2013.
“Children with heart conditions often require frequent visits to a pediatric cardiologist, which can mean traveling long distances,” Harris said. “Having grown up in Mason County, it’s incredibly rewarding to now provide care in my hometown and help ease that travel burden for families.”
In addition to the new clinic location at Rivers Health, Harris will continue to maintain his practice in Huntington alongside colleagues, Jack R. Stines, M.D., and Mariam Opel, M.D., MBBS.
