The Cabell Huntington Hospital Board of Directors has officially adopted Mountain Health Network, Inc. as the system name at their February 26, 2019 meeting.
“The naming process was a robust one,” stated Michael Mullins, president and CEO, Mountain Health Network. “From the beginning, the board recognized the significance of the new brand in representing the system to the Tri-State region. We are building a great system that deserves a great name that represents not only who we are today, but who we want to become. Cabell Huntington Hospital (CHH) and St. Mary’s Medical Center (SMMC), together with Marshall University’s Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and other independent medical providers, are creating a super-regional healthcare delivery system that expands our footprint and enhances access to higher quality medical care.”
“To determine a name that is worthy of the new system, we followed a methodical process,” stated Kevin Yingling, MD, RPh, chair of the Mountain Health Network Board of Directors. “A committee of leadership and board members from both hospitals was established. They understood the gravity of choosing a system name and gathered information from many stakeholders to develop a brand platform. The result was a better understanding of the system’s unique position in the market, its purpose, and how to enhance patients’ experience.”
The next steps in the process are logo design and brand architecture for the new brand. The goal will be to develop a unified design that links the hospitals to the new brand and to one another. Both CHH and SMMC have strong brands and rich traditions of providing quality care for the community. As such, both SMMC and CHH will maintain their individual identities including names, logos and colors while operating under the new healthcare system.
