Neurologist joins medical staff of Rivers Health

Micaela Owens, DO, Marshall Health neurologist and assistant professor at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, has joined the medical staff at Rivers Health, a member of Marshall Health Network (MHN), and is now offering onsite neurology services.

Born and raised in Gallipolis, Ohio, Dr. Owens obtained her doctorate of osteopathic medicine at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she also completed a master’s degree in health services administration. She completed her neurology residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, where she was elected academic chief resident and led the institutional quality improvement initiative for inpatient epilepsy care. Additionally, she completed a neurophysiology fellowship at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Neurology joins gastroenterology, otolaryngology, Tele-ICU and neurology telemedicine as the latest specialty services added at Rivers Health. The additional services are a part of MHN’s commitment to the health care of the community the hospital serves.
