Huntington’s Kitchen, a community outreach program of Cabell Huntington Hospital, has announced its cooking class schedule for April 2022.
All classes are limited to 16 participants, ages 15 and up, unless otherwise specified. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Registration is required by calling 304.522.0887 or by visiting huntingtons-kitchen.org.
Electric Pressure Cooker 101
In this class, attendees will learn how to make country style pork ribs, soup beans, beef tips in gravy, chicken tortilla soup – all in an electric pressure cooker. This class will be offered 6 to 8 p.m. Fee: $20 per person.
Here’s to a Gouda Time
Attendees will try 15-20 different cheeses while learning how to arrange them with other foods to make a nice charcuterie board. This class will be offered 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fee: $20 per person.
Dining With a Doc
Damian Silbermins, MD, oncologist, HIMG Oncology and St. Mary’s Regional Cancer Center, will be the guest doctor with a discussion about the latest cancer treatments and the importance of not delaying cancer screenings. This class will be offered 6 to 8 p.m. Fee: Free, but registration is required.
Chicken Tonight?
Explore how many different ways we can make this classic dish as we prepare chicken and dumplings with an Asian twist: chicken with sesame dumplings in a miso broth. This class will be offered 6 to 8 p.m. Fee: $25 per person.
Breakfast for Dinner
This class will go outside the cereal box by making fried egg raviolis filled with ricotta cheese and egg yolk to look like a fried egg with breakfast gravy. This class will be offered 6 to 8 p.m. Fee: $25 per person.
Go Fish
Participants already love bang bang shrimp as an appetizer, but in this class, we’ll turn this favored appetizer into an entrée as bang bang shrimp pasta. This class is offered 6 to 8 p.m. Fee: $25 per person.
What’s for Dinner Tonight?
Join Chef Marty for dinner and dine like a chef. This month’s class features pork chops alla pizzaiola with creamy polenta. This class will be offered 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fee: $25 per person.
A Little Something Sweet
Chef Marty’s sweet tooth is kicking in so we’re going to learn how to make Old Fashioned Custard Pie with a homemade pie crust. This class will be offered 6 to 8 p.m. Fee: $25 per person.
Senior Focus Friday
Open to anyone age 50 or older. Enjoy a healthy meal and information about diabetic foot care from Dustin Peterson, DPM, HIMG Podiatry. This event will be offered noon to 1 p.m. Fee: Free, but registration is required.
